Commissions and Community
Lynn has undertaken numerous public commissions in Britain, from Stitching Up Manchester Oxford Rd to a textile map for the Museum of Science and Industry and a banner for T&G Workers Union. Some have involved the public, be it members of the local community or as in the case of the Azadi quilt, an Asian women's group from Preston, or primary school children as part of a residency at Belsay Hall Northumberland.
"Burnley schools project" Burnley, Lancs. 2005 1.2 x 1.6m x 2
Working with two very different schools in Burnley Lancashire, one where all the pupils were of Asian decent, the other largely White British. The aim of the project was to get the groups to interact and share common ground
"Stitching Up Oxford Rd" 2006 1.5 x 2.3m
Manchester Metropolitan University
The project involved numerous workshops at venues up and down Manchester Oxford Rd, (from the Hospital to the Aquatics Centre and Deaf Institute) and making a quilt using recycled materials.

This commission was to make a modern banner for Oldham to go alongside important historic examples. It reflects Oldham old and new and was made with a group of local women from a wide range of backgrounds
Manchester International Festival July 2007
Part of the Great Indoors Event. This project involved creating an indoor garden using recycled materials over one weekend, all the work was made by and for children. Workshops included carbon footprints, buntings and flags and vibrant flowers all made from waste and scrap materials

A banner made with a Manchester primary school to celebrate their centenary
Several of the children's drawings were chosen to represent key themes of the school. Parents and children then stitched these over a 3 month period. The final banner also includes the names of the 20 countries represented throughout the school.
